Certified Translation Twickenham
Professional certified translations for Twickenham residents and businesses, accepted by the Home Office, UKVI and UK courts. Human translators only — no machine translation, ever.
Certified translation, on your doorstep
If you live or work in Twickenham, TranslationsInLondon is one of the closest specialist certified translation agencies to you — based just across the river in Isleworth, on the same stretch of the Thames that runs through St Margarets and Twickenham Riverside. We work with residents preparing visa and settlement applications, students at St Mary's University, families dealing with academic and civil documents, and local businesses near the Twickenham Stadium and Regal Lane corridor who need contracts, certificates or reports translated for official use.
Every translation we produce comes with a signed statement of accuracy — a declaration from the translator or agency confirming the translation is a complete and true rendering of the original. This is the standard the Home Office, UKVI, UK courts, universities and most official bodies require, and it's different from a "sworn" translation (a concept used in civil law countries like France, Spain, Italy and Germany, which doesn't formally exist in the UK). If your document needs to go further — for instance for use in a foreign court or with a foreign authority — we can also arrange notarisation through our network of UK notaries public.
What is a certified translation, exactly?
A certified translation is a professional translation accompanied by a signed statement confirming it is accurate and complete to the best of the translator's knowledge and ability. In the UK there's no single government-issued certification — the translation company or translator provides this declaration directly, on headed paper, with their credentials and contact details. TranslationsInLondon's certificates include our ITI Corporate Membership number, company details, and a direct signature from our Director, so they can be verified by any receiving authority.
Certified vs notarised vs sworn
- Certified translation — a signed statement of accuracy from the translator or agency. Sufficient for the vast majority of UK official purposes, including UKVI and Home Office submissions.
- Notarised translation — a certified translation additionally witnessed and authenticated by a UK notary public. Needed for certain international legal proceedings or use abroad.
- Sworn translation — a concept from civil law countries. The UK doesn't have sworn translators as such; our certified or notarised translations serve the equivalent purpose.
Not sure which one your situation needs? Send us the document and the name of the authority you're submitting to, and we'll tell you for free before you order anything.

Frequently asked questions
Can you handle urgent requests?
Yes. Delivery depends on the length and type of document, so send us a photo or scan, tell us your deadline, and we will confirm a delivery date when we quote.
Do I need to visit your office in Isleworth?
No. We're a short distance from Twickenham, but almost all our clients handle everything by email — send your document as a clear scan or photo, and we'll email your certified translation back, with a posted hard copy available on request.
What is the cost of a certified translation in Twickenham?
Our standard rate is £42 inc. VAT per page (up to approximately 250 words). For multi-page documents, complex documents or urgent requests, contact us for a tailored quote.
My document is several pages long — how does pricing work?
Multi-page documents are quoted individually based on total word count and complexity, so you get one clear price for the whole document rather than paying per page blind. Send it over and we'll confirm the total cost upfront, before you commit to anything.
Will my document need notarisation or an apostille?
That depends on the receiving authority, not on us — some UK and foreign bodies require a standard certified translation, others ask for notarisation, and some require an apostille (a further layer of authentication issued by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office). If you're not sure, tell us who you're submitting to and we'll advise for free before you order. We can arrange notarisation directly through our network of UK notaries public where it's needed.
Are you a member of a professional body?
Yes. TranslationsInLondon is an ITI Corporate Member — Corporate Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, the UK's leading professional association for translators and interpreters. Membership number 00030335, verifiable at iti.org.uk.
Are certified translations accepted by UKVI and the Home Office?
Yes. Our certified translations are prepared to the standard required for UKVI and Home Office submissions. If your specific application has additional requirements, contact us before ordering and we'll confirm you're covered.
